Ash Rajan, a standard gauge collector and enthusiast since 2020 got his initial lust for trains via a Gauge 1 Finescale collection assembled from the highly detailed, precision trains of Aster, Bockholt and Fine Art Models. However, pure Americana nostalgia shifted his focus from ultra detailed trains to toy-like, colorful and shiny tinplate. It was a child-like joy to go from artist easels and studio paint brushes that describes scale gauge 1 to tinplate standard gauge which is like coloring with crayons and painting with numbers, declares Ash. That obsession ballooned into a collection of four hundred plus entire sets of standard gauge trains drawn from Lionel Classics, MTH, Pride Lines, RichArt, Varney Sirus, Cohen, Jerry Brown, John Daniel, Hendrichs, Robert Thon, Waterman, Sergio and Dehanes. Ash admits, Standard Gauge tinplate is this immigrant’s celebration of Americana in its colorful and shining glory.
The latter part of the auction will include trains and accessories from other collection to include LGB and Modern O gauge.
